This Week on Voyage.tv

You will notice a few changes this week with the release of a planned update of the Voyage.tv site. Let me outline for you what is changing and how it will improve the presentation and usability of the site.

The main change that you will see is a new Home Page design. The design is intended to focus the user experience on the Voyage.tv’s video – which is really what the site is all about.  Each program or hotel video now has a separate landing page and the pop-out player will be discontinued on all but a few pages. The large banner on the top of the page remains, but will be replaced by a more contemporary design.

The main navigation on the Home Page will also changed slightly. In response to the level of viewership of the fashion and retail programs, we will introduce Fashion as a category. This replaces “Culture”, which removes the daunting challenge that our Editors face of defining what is “culture” and what isn’t.

The Destination Home Pages (voyage.tv/Bermuda.html) will change slightly with the removal of the Photo Bar and the Favorite Video List as these features were not extensively used. We are going to evolve the Destination Home Pages over the next several weeks to include more local information from the Resident Editors, including a regular video and written blog.

You will also note that the retail element from the Voyage.tv Home Page, as well as the Destination Home Page, has been removed. With the introduction of VideoTravelDeals, we feel we have a better vehicle to communicate the retail offers to interested members.  We are very excited about VideoTravelDeals and the “curated” approach to retail. Our suppliers have been supportive and we have a stream of great offers on the way.

Finally, you will note that we have integrated Voyage.tv with Facebook Connect, allowing you to sign on to the site with your Facebook log in or more easily push content to your Facebook Page.

As always we value any comments that you may have.
